Discover a centuries-old mindfulness practice of zazen that develops attention, presence, and awareness. Learn practical techniques, you can continue at home using posture, breath, and focused attention. Learn the foundations of mindfulness meditation through posture, breathing, and focused attention.
This introductory class taught by a Zen Buddhist from Southwind Sangha emphasizes practical techniques for developing a sustainable meditation practice rather than guided visualization or relaxation exercises.
Participants will explore several comfortable seated positions—including chairs, meditation cushions, and kneeling benches—to find what works best for their bodies. No prior meditation experience is necessary, and people of all faiths (or none) are welcome.
Please Note:
This class focuses on learning meditation as a mindfulness practice. You will be using large cushions called (zabutons) and kneeling benches or chairs based on your preference. If you're looking for a guided relaxation or sound bath experience, this class may not be the best fit.
