Botanica transforms into a 20-acre outdoor classroom, offering learning across a variety of subjects. At Botanica, your students learn by doing. During field trips, the garden becomes a living classroom that blends:

Group Size

Botanica accommodates multiple classes at one time, and stations are designed for smooth group rotation and safety.

Field Trip Stations

Students rotate through five engaging stations across the gardens—each designed to support Kansas State Standards while offering unique,
hands-on learning experiences. Each station highlights a different part of Botanica, combining education with fun, movement, and sensory-rich garden environments

Fireside Patio

Hands-on science lessons aligned with Kansas State Standards. Students explore key concepts through inquiry-based learning.

Education Bungalow

Engaging activities tied to science and math standards. Students observe, collect, and analyze data from nature.

Grand Lawn

Guided physical activity aligned with Health Education Standards. Encourages movement, wellness, and fun in a large open space.

Carousel Gardens

Explore Sleeping Troll Hill, the Game Garden, and enjoy a ride on our historic carousel.
$1 per student (optional)

Carousel must be pre-booked when you schedule your field trip

Arrival & Parking

For school and group field trips, Botanica’s South Gate entrance offers the most convenient access for buses and large groups. This entrance is located just off Museum Boulevard, near the Sims River’s Edge Parking Lot. Buses and group vans should use this area for drop-off and parking.

School groups arrive 9:30–9:45 AM at the South Entrance

Schedule

Groups rotate through 5 learning stations:
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Each station is 25 minutes + 5-minute travel time
Depart Garden at 1:00 PM

Lunch Options: Classes may bring coolers with sack lunches or pre-order boxed lunches through your district -Botanica can assist with delivery logistics.
