Koch Carousel Gardens

Made possible by a generous gift from Koch Industries and Koch Family Foundation, Koch Carousel Gardens is an enchanting space at Botanica. Surrounding the Khicha Family Carousel and Spirit AeroSystems Education and Gathering Room, the Koch Carousel Gardens features many one-of-a-kind installations for the entire community. The Brown Family Grand Lawn & Stage will welcome dance, theater, musical performances and large concerts. The Zerbe Family Sleeping Troll Hill is “the” place to be as children climb, explore and roll down the trolls back. The DeVore Family Game Garden has larger than life checkers, Tic Tac Turtle Board Game Area, outdoor ping pong, giant jenga and a marble maze game for all guests to test their mind and body. The Brauning Barefoot Sensory Garden allows guests to take off their shoes and connect their body to the earth. Finally, the Lattner Family Foundation Fireplace Patio is a welcome place to relax in the shade and enjoy the beauty of the gardens. Lawn games, food trucks and activities will also be added seasonaly so always check the website for special events and daily happenings throughout the year.

There is amazing art in the Koch Carousel Gardens with the newly installed sculpture dedicated from Charles and Liz Koch called “The Attendant: 1923” by artist John Ernatt. Also installed are Murphy the Shaggy Dog Topiary from the Naftzger Fund for Fine Arts and the Unicorn Topiary gifted by Don and Lora Barry.

The Koch Carousel Gardens will also be a future home for a play space for older children with a 50 foot high tower and swirly slide, water exploration play area and a cableway zip line. In addition, it will also be the future spot for the year-round Butterfly Conservatory, a new art/installation studio and the future new entrance/lobby.

“We are proud to support Botanica in creating an exceptional community gathering place where children and adults are able to experience the art and beauty of nature. Botanica is a treasure to Wichita and the Koch Carousel Gardens only adds to that, creating a vibrant and inclusive place that will enrich our community for many years to come.”
