Short Description of Presentation Topic: This presentation covers Ackerman Island's 65-year history, during which it was home to an asphalt plant, an amusement park, a baseball diamond, and interurban railroad shops, among other things. A locus of fierce legal battles over ownership and legal jurisdiction, the island was removed as part of flood control and Great Depression work relief.
