Linda Stewart Evaluation Garden

The Linda Stewart Evaluation Garden is an experimental garden for herbaceous perennials. Studying full-sun and shady growing areas determines adaptability in the climate and environmental conditions of this region.

Staff and volunteers evaluate plant materials for hardiness, heat and wind tolerance, seasonal interest and resistance to pests and diseases. After one to three years of testing, successful new varieties move into the Gardens and become part of the permanent display.

A featured flowerbed called All-American Selections includes new variations of flowers tested and proven for superior home garden performance. South of Botanica’s main parking lot, this Garden provides guidance to professional and novice gardeners of the area.
