Margie Button Memorial Fountain
and Garden

Surrounded by the Jessie Wooldridge Brosius Rose Garden, the Margie Button Memorial Fountain is one of Botanica’s most beloved features. Built in the shape of a flower with four petals, it is 35’ in diameter. Centrally located, three levels of water cascade down the Fountain and over hand-painted ceramic tiles depicting landscapes and underwater scenes.

The Tribute Pathway divides large annual beds surrounding the Fountain that rotate from Tulips to Mums with colorful surprises in between. One of Botanica’s original gardens, the Fountain was built for the grand opening in 1987. In the evening, outdoor lighting produces an equally exquisite image of this Wichita icon. At the heart of Botanica, enjoy the views and the vibes around the Margie Button Memorial Fountain and Garden.

Feature Facts

The Fountain contains 12,000 gallons of water. When viewed from the sky, its flower shape comes to life with four petals and three tiers of concentric circles.

Margie Button was an avid local gardener who loved marigolds. In her honor, Botanica plants marigolds each year. Annuals are planted in the surrounding beds and change with each season. Tulips bloom in spring. In summer tall, majestic annuals like Candle Bush and Cannas grow. Fall brings Chrysanthemums. In winter, the twinkling lights of Illuminations fill the Garden.
Around the outside border are Peonies and Daylilies. They are a beautiful segue between the early spring blooms and flowering shrubs. With up to 85 different Peony varieties featured, the Garden extends blooming from late April through early June. Hardy Hibiscus grow west of the fountain near the gazebo.
